Mattis Looking Into Possible Changes After Niger Ambush Killed Four US Soldiers

U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced Wednesday the military was looking into if changes need to be made after an ambush in Niger killed four U.S. soldiers last week, according to Reuters. The ambush suspected of being led by a local Islamic State affiliate, brought attention to a U.S. counterterrorism mission in Niger, the report said. While addressing the incident publicly for the first time, Mattis said the attack took place in an area where "the enemy has not operated before" and the patrol was “hit hard.” He said French aircraft were overhead within 30 minutes and he does not think there was a delay in removing those injured and killed, however, he did not disclose the amount of... - International English News
