H4 builds lead at Melges 14 Midwinters

Day two at the Melges 14 Midwinter Championship saw four races in a building 5 to 15 knot breeze, turquoise blue water and 80 degree weather on Sarasota Bay. With no finishes worse than second, Harry Melges IV has established a solid advantage over the fleet. Race one saw Melges take the early advantage, only to be slowly reeled in by a charging Kyle Navin. Melges held off Navin for a neck-and-neck finish. The next race would pit Melges against Adam Ankers and Daniel Thielman. Ankers showed excellent upwind speed and sailed to a solid second place finish. Thielman held on for a third place finish. The final race saw a significant right shift. Lars Osell took the early lead off of the boat end of the starting line parlaying that into a third place finish, his best of the day…
