Balancing Act by Timothy Poulton

I pride myself on creating balanced scenes with symmetry and flow. Sometimes this is difficult with certain locations and Moraine Lake in Canada’s Alberta is undoubtedly one that is left heavy due to the shape of the mountains. Most photographers will head to the lookout and shoot the classic scene even adding themselves for scale; I prefer to jump around the place looking for something a little different and create balance with my composition. One thing that’s becoming very apparent is the popularity of landscape photography and that more people are braving the early hours for a little magic. This morning I counted over 100 people at this location, and the car park was almost full by 8 am. It is getting harder by the day to find a spot without people in your shot or getting in someone's way. Don’t get me wrong; I’m thrilled people are spending more time outdoors and enjoying the few remaining places relatively untouched by our destructive hand. I hate to think what it will be like for the next generation of photographers. Enjoyed your creative endeavors and let’s all work together and protecting our magical earth.
